Winter Time of Use Periods Start November 1, 2019!
The cost of electricity varies depending on when you use it.
Time-of-use (TOU) prices benefit you when using electricity during low-demand periods.
Off-Peak, Mid-Peak and On-Peak prices factor in the time of day, the day of the week and the season of the year (summer and winter).
The lowest prices are at night, on weekends and on statutory holidays:
How time-of-use prices are set
TOU prices reflect the fact that the cost to provide electricity changes throughout the day. When demand is low, less expensive sources of electricity are used.
When demand is high, more expensive forms of electricity production are called upon.
Current price information can be found on the Ontario Energy Board website.
