March Home Maintenance Checklist
With spring just around the corner, it’s important to make sure your home is ready for the season ahead. March is the perfect time to tackle some home maintenance tasks to ensure your home stays in top condition. Here are 5 things you can take care of this month to stay on top of things!
Check Outside Faucets
You would think you can notice a water leak immediately, but that’s usually not the case. Water damage is often caused from a slow leak which mean you won’t notice it immediately. Inspect you outside faucets today to protect your property!
Check Exterior Drainage
With winter winds, leaves and other debris can get trapped by ice – check your rain gutters and downspouts to make sure they weren’t damaged over the last few months. Water blockage is a leading cause of damage to a home. Any type of activity on the roof can be dangerous so you should consider calling in a pro. Check your ground-level exterior areas too. Standing ground water and water backups pose a risk to your foundation and other areas. If you notice this happening, call a landscaper to discuss re-grading parts of your yard.
A/C Tune-Up
Be ready when warm weather arrives by having your air conditioning unit prepared and ready to keep you nice and cool. Regular maintenance on your AC unit helps with its longevity and your utility bills too..
Clean Your Baseboards
You should aim to clean your baseboards once a month. If you notice they’re very grimy when you clean them, switch to cleaning every two weeks instead. When you’re vacuuming, use the brush attachment on the hose to give your baseboards a rubdown. This removes dust, dirt, and pet hair, preventing it from building up.
Clean Your Washing Machine
Washing machines can be a breeding ground for bacteria if not cleaned periodically. Cleaning your washing machine helps remove odours, keeps your machine running smoothly and helps with sanitation. Check your owner’s manual for detailed instructions.
