Affordable Home Office Updates
This year’s home must-have was an office space that offers the flexibility to go seamlessly from video calls to virtual classroom and everything in between. While you may not have been able to create your dream office, there are affordable ways to create a stylish space no matter design preferences or budget!
Colour Your World
Choose colours that promote productivity. If you’re struggling to find focus when working from home, consider changing your paint colours to help promote a sense of calm and concentration to help through the busiest days. We’ve seen the colour of the year skew towards greens this year, which is a fantastic colour choice for reducing eye fatigue helping you work smarter all year long.
Location, Location, Location
If you don’t have a dedicated home office, you should have a designated space. You’ll likely be spending many hours there so don’t stiff yourself on space (eg. squishing a tiny desk into a windowless closet in order to preserve the rarely-used guest room). Floating shelves or side tables can double as compact desks in small spaces. Hide the clutter by using supplies you likely already have at home (baskets, mason jars, catch-all trays) to store office materials.
Beautiful Sights
On Video calls all day? You can create an envy-inducing backdrop by painting out a bookshelf in a solid colour and styling it with decorative objects. If that doesn’t work for you, there are a number of websites that offer free virtual options. On the other hand, you should also make sure you give yourself a great view – position your desk where you can stare at something other than a blank wall (even if it’s a great colour) when you glance up from your computer. A window is ideal, but if you’re in a windowless space, hang a picture above the desk or position your chair to face the door.
