Father's Day Gift Ideas
Father’s Day is this Sunday, June 19, the day when we take time to recognize our dads, granddads and the other fathers in our life. This year, when looking for the perfect gift, try taking it beyond a tie or another tool. Instead, how about giving him the gift of precious leisure time by taking some of those jobs off his “Honey Do” list?
Here are a few creative Father’s Day gift ideas for your consideration:
1. Masterchef
If he is into grilling, a new barbecue might be the perfect present – just make sure it comes already assembled! If he already has a good barbecue and likes to cook, consider a grilling cook book, personalized chef’s hat or apron or a state-of-the-art meat thermometer. Or how about a turkey deep fryer with a kit of spices, rubs and marinades?
2. Tech Support
Is he constantly frustrated by a computer that is too slow or has other glitches? Give him a certificate for a computer clean-up, software upgrade, or (if you find a great deal) consider replacing it outright. If he’s specific about his tech, consider a gift card to his favourite component supplier.
3. Knock a Few Things Off His To-Do List
Consider a Homeservice Club gift certificate valid to take care of that list of home maintenance jobs he’s been meaning to get to – repairing the fence, fixing the gate, cleaning the deck or washing the windows. Call the office for details.
4. Make Some Noise
Help him enjoy some tunes while lounging on the deck with some outdoor speakers and hire an electrician to help him install them.
5. Laidback Landscaping
Maybe he didn’t get around to a full yard clean-up this spring, maybe the yard needs a little TLC, maybe he overdid it with the plants a few years ago and it’s a little out of control. Take the pressure off his knees and call in a landscaping crew to take care of all those things he’s been avoiding doing around the property.
6. Dazzling Deck
Like the space inside your residence, your deck requires regular cleaning and maintenance to remain habitable and safe. Have his wooden deck professionally cleaned or sanded and buy him a new lounge chair so he can enjoy it.
