Adios, violet! Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2019 is Living Coral (Pantone 16-1546), a juicy, joyful pink-orange. As the company tells us, this is a “nurturing colour that appears in our natural surroundings” (think gorgeous, craggy sea coral). Here’s how we plan on using it this year.
Use it as an Accent-Wall
You can do this using paint for full-on colour, or choose a patterned wallpaper. A tropical, floral or botanical print lends itself to this colour – or try something more graphic, like the one seen here.
Pairing coral with a dark neutral like navy blue or greige can maintain the relaxing vibe of the space. If you love a bright and energizing bedroom, coral is a fun accent colour for boho and mid-century styles.
Pair it with Neutrals and Blues
Brighten a Boring Bathroom
With it’s warm undertones, Living Coral can help brighten a space. Use this hue for a tiny closet or uncluttered bathroom and allow it to establish a bold dose of saturated character to the lightless space.
Unless you’re sure the paint colour is something you’ll be able to live with for an extended period of time, don’t feel compelled to designate the hue solely for the walls. If you want to really think outside the box, paint an unusual trim around your windows or hit your stairs.
